October 2016 Mix

Cooler weather, shorter days, the golden angle of the sun, and earth tones all around bring the liveliness way down and make room for introspection and nostalgia. October’s musical intake over here was very mellow. Goat’s new album is much calmer than usual. MV & EE, Bob Weir, and Daniel Lanois are rural and ethereal. The Swet Shop Boys are hazy and laid back (sonically, at least). The Orb advocate chilling out and provide sonic support. And, though she did not fit as the opener to this mix, Weyes Blood’s Front Row Seat to Earth easily takes the cake this month.
