When I was younger I sometimes fell asleep taping a favorite song off the radio (usually WBER in Rochester, New York). The tape ran after I slept. More often than not, the best result of this would be the semi-mystical experience of listening to those unknown, mistakenly-recorded tracks the next day. I made this mix trying to recreate that experience. That’s not to say that all the tracks on it will be unknown to anyone else who happens to listen to this, but when heard without necessarily knowing what comes next and in a different context, some of that curiosity-induced mystery can enhance the experience – hearing something familiar with new ears, so to speak.
