home from brazil, back into exploring the hippie stuff, and dating my wife – very literally the girl of my daydreams. i distinctly remember thinking about her for hours on end doing my neighbor’s landscaping for peanuts the summer before my mission. i used to joke with missionary friends that god would place love for me in her heart as a reward for good service. “you’ll know i served a good mission if...” i was sorely tempted to send them a picture of me kissing her a few months after i got home.
even though my favorite hendrix is “all along the watchtower” (everyone’s favorite), this is a song that my wife used to play (and the only one she likes, i think). it’s what piqued my interest in hendrix. this song is dating her, starting byu, finding my way through the rm confusion, feeling real freedom for the first time. plus, it’s just a really good song.
