ravi shankar | "morning love" | concerto for sitar & orchestra | 1971

how could any experimentation with hippie music be complete without curiosity about indian music?

after a quick perusal of the orem public library’s music collection, i selected ravi shankar’s concerto for sitar & orchestra. i guess it was serendipity that i chose ignorantly and still landed on the sitar’s modern master.

indian music doesn’t float the boats of most people i know, but it really does something for me. it calls to my mind the sublime and eternal nature of each person’s soul better than the hymns of my own religious tradition. i suppose that should make us all grateful for orthodoxy.
