the beatles | "it's all too much" | yellow submarine | 1967
i'm embarking on the quintessence of self-indulgence: giving a psuedo-history of my tastes in music. answering a call never made to expound on oneself is the height of vanity... and the main purpose behind blogging! so here you are...
in 1985 i checked out a yellow submarine cassette from the fairport public library to do research on the history of pop music, an assignment for my seventh grade music class. (behold johanna perrin middle school (a.k.a., “j.p.”, a.a.k.a. “japanese prison”) above.)
this is the first psychedelic song I really, really got into. i remember this one going around and around in my twelve-year-old brain and an intense compulsion to listen to it whenever i could.
